Intern Housing, LLC



The Johnson Building Intern Housing Program is open to conservatives participating in intern programs recognized by Intern Housing, LLC. The Johnson Building Program aims to bring young conservatives together to share an enriching environment while they gain education and work experience in Washington, D.C.

The Johnson Building is located on Massachusetts Avenue, NE, adjacent to The Heritage Foundation's Capitol Hill headquarters and two blocks east of Union Station. The building contains 27 efficiency and one-bedroom units; each unit provides housing for two or three interns based on its size. Resident advisors live on each floor of the building and there is a 24-hour on-site patrol officer. The Johnson Building is access controlled, includes a coin-operated laundry facility, fitness center, library, and floor lounges. Each room is fully furnished and the amenities listed below are included in the monthly FF&E/Amenities fee charged to each resident. All carpeting and furnishings were replaced and updated in 2012.

  • Furnishings: single beds, nightstand, dresser, desk with bookshelves, kitchen table and chairs, clothes closet, iron/ironing board, and LCD TV 
  • Kitchen: refrigerator/freezer, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, cookware, complete dish set, eating and cooking utensils
  • Wireless internet service
  • Cable TV (200+ non-premium channels)
  • Fitness Center
  • Air conditioning
  • All utilities inclusive
  • Local phone service


Residents of the Johnson Building enjoy the numerous benefits of living with other young conservatives while interning in Washington D.C. All residents must abide by the specific rules of conduct established by Intern Housing, LLC. Violation of the terms of the License Agreement, including its detailed rules and regulations may result in the termination of housing at the Johnson Building.
